What is LSI and how it works in terms of SEO ?

Okay, I am here to let you know all about LSI and its uses in terms of Search Engine Optimization.
LSI keywords start off being complicated because of their name. LSI means Latent Semantic Index. Now, that's an intimidating name. It one of those names that computer geeks love to lay on things so normal people think they (the geeks) are really, really smart.

Is it that complicated?

According to Wikipedia, Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is an indexing and retrieval method that uses a mathematical technique called Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) to identify patterns in the relationships between the terms and concepts contained in an unstructured collection of text. LSI is based on the principle that words that are used in the same contexts tend to have similar meanings.

Wow! That's even worse!

OK, that's all the big words I'm going to use here. Unless you're involved in developing search engine technologies, you don't need to understand SVD. You just need to know what LSI keywords are and how to use them. LSI keywords are just words that relate to your main keyword.

In search engine optimization (SEO), you want to use the keywords you are targeting on your page so that the search engine will rank your page highly when a searcher enters those keywords in their search. That's fine, and easy enough, except that if you use the keywords too much, the search engine will penalize the page as being spammy and move it down in the listings.

That's where LSI keywords come in...

You can put LSI keywords in your content instead of overusing the main keywords and it will be like putting in lots of the main keywords with out the problem of overdoing it. They can also be worked into the content in a manner that doesn't hurt the readability of the page for humans.

So where can I find LSI keywords?

The easiest place is The Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Just do a search for "Google AdWords Keyword Tool". Be sure that Descriptive words or phrases is selected, then enter your keyword(s) in the text box. Put in the captcha and press the "Get keyword ideas" button.

You'll get a list of keywords that are related to the main keyword. Scroll down until you come to "Additional keywords to consider". These are LSI keywords that you can use in your content to safely add to the strength of the main keyword.

The bottom line...

LSI keywords are just keywords that relate to the main keyword. Use them to safely increase your search engine ranking. source: Ezinearticles.com

What is SEO ?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” The term may sound like optimizing an actual search engine such as Google, yahoo, MSN, AOL, however this professional service focuses on tweaking a website to do well – to appear among the top listings on search engine results pages (SERPs). SERPs are web pages returned by search engines like Google or Yahoo! after a user performs a search. These pages contain links to web sites and documents that the search engine deems relevant to the word or phrase. These words or phrases are also known as “keywords.”

OK, let’s see a show of hands: How many of you are reading this book because you want a #1 rank in Google? Yeah, we thought so. As SEO consultants, we know how good it feels when your website makes it to the top of the heap. Listen, we sincerely hope you get your #1 Google rank, but it won’t help you if it’s bringing in the wrong audience or pointing them to a dead-end website. So don’t think of SEO as just a way to improve your site’s ranking.

The term search engine optimization describes a diverse set of activities that you can perform to increase the number of desirable visitors who come to your website via search engines (you may also have heard these activities called Search Engine Marketing or Search Marketing). This includes things you do to your site itself, such as making changes to your text and HTML code. It also includes communicating directly with the search engines, or pursuing other sources of traffic by making requests for listings or links. Tracking, research, and competitive review are also part of the SEO package.

Right Free Directories to submit your WEBSITE

On January 22nd – just before the Austin update – I had spent most of the day searching out directories to submit to.
I worked from lists of directories, and have now narrowed down a list of the best free ones to submit to, based primarily on their usefulness for SEO purposes.
Of course, there are other free directories that can be very useful specifically for internet marketing puposes. However, this list focusses on SEO advantages only. All those that use a redirected link (ie, jump.php?your-link) are out, as are those directories that do not even have their content pages spidered (I judged that on the basis of them having pages cached by Google or not).
All of the following with therefore list your link, for free, and leave your link to be spidered as a backlink by search engines.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive, but that it will be added to/amended as required. If you have any suggestions then feel free to e-mail me:
